BJP's Jaiswal Expresses Sympathy Over Maha Kumbh Stampede

Jan 29 || TC - Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, President of the Bihar BJP, has expressed his deep sadness over the tragic stampede at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, which led to several deaths and many injuries. He described the incident as deeply sorrowful.

Jaiswal extended his condolences to the families of the victims, commending the Uttar Pradesh government's efforts in organizing the event, while also acknowledging that the massive crowd was a contributing factor to the tragedy.

"The Kumbh incident is very tragic, and may God grant peace to the souls of those who lost their lives. The Uttar Pradesh government made very good arrangements, but due to the crowd of millions, such an incident occurred," Jaiswal said, recognizing that the overwhelming turnout, despite the authorities' best efforts, contributed to the chaos.

In a separate comment, Jaiswal took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, criticizing his political actions and claiming he lacks clarity in his approach.

"People say about Rahul Gandhi that this man’s development should be at a certain level, but what is supposed to develop in his body has not developed. He keeps hugging Kejriwal sometimes and then abuses him at other times," he remarked.

Jaiswal also used the occasion to defend the religious importance of the Maha Kumbh, contrasting it with the Congress’s criticism of religious practices. "Do they mock Haj?" he asked, referring to the Congress’s past remarks on religious events.

He emphasized that the BJP respects all religious beliefs and practices, including pilgrimages like Haj, unlike some comments made by Congress leaders in the past.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent statements have sparked strong reactions from Hindu groups and individuals who view the Kumbh as a deeply sacred spiritual tradition.

During the Mhow rally, Kharge questioned the efficacy of taking a dip in the Ganga, asking if it could eliminate poverty or solve problems like hunger, unemployment, and education.

Kharge said, “Does taking a dip in the Ganga River remove poverty? Do the people get food? Children are dying of hunger and are not going to school. The laborers are not getting wages. On the other hand, there is competition among BJP leaders to take a dip in the Ganga River. They are spending thousands of rupees to take a plunge in competitions. Such people will not do any good to the country.”
