Patna, Feb 5 || TC - Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, met Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum regarding the surge in crime incidents in the state.
During the meeting, Tejashwi urged the Governor to take prompt action to address the issue.
Speaking after the meeting, Tejashwi voiced his concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar. He alleged that certain communities were being unfairly targeted at both state and national levels.
Tejashwi specifically raised the case of a DSP-ranked officer who was accused of mistreating a person from a minority community in the Benipatti police station area of Madhubani. The incident allegedly occurred during a vehicle-checking campaign that took place a week ago.
Tejashwi pointed out that no action had been taken against the officer by the state government so far.
The RJD leader called for immediate disciplinary action against the officer to set a clear example within the police force.
He criticized the state government for its "lack of action," stating that the absence of accountability was contributing to the rising crime rate and the misuse of authority by law enforcement officials.
Governor Khan has not yet made any public comments regarding the memorandum submitted by Tejashwi.
On the matter of the job appointment letters distributed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday, Tejashwi claimed that the foundation for these appointments was laid during his 17 months in government.
Regarding the job appointments, Tejashwi remarked, "We were in power for 17 months, so there must be some results. The 3.5 lakh jobs that are currently in process were approved during our tenure. All the necessary positions were created in our cabinet. Let them take all the credit now; we don't mind. What matters is that the people of Bihar get jobs."
Previously, Tejashwi had repeatedly emphasized that his leadership had facilitated over 5 lakh government jobs during the 17 months in power, with an additional 3.5 lakh positions in progress before the Grand Alliance government fell in January 2024.
