Feb 16 || TC – Gurugram police's Crime Branch has taken five individuals into custody for their involvement in multiple theft cases across different parts of the city, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sajid, Zaheer Abbas, and Zakir, all from Kiranki village in Gurugram; Rakesh Kumar from Khagaria, Bihar; and Deepak from Palwal, Haryana.
According to authorities, the Sohna Crime Branch intercepted Sajid, Zaheer Abbas, and Zakir on Sohna-Palwal Road, linking them to the theft of an inverter and a battery from an area under Sadar police station's jurisdiction in Sohna.
Meanwhile, the Sector-43 Crime Branch detained Rakesh Kumar at Laser Valley Ground in Sector-29 for allegedly stealing a mobile phone in Sushant Lok police station’s area. In a separate case, the Farukhnagar Crime Branch arrested Deepak in Todapur village for his involvement in a jewelry theft within Pataudi police station’s limits.
During questioning, Rakesh Kumar admitted to committing another theft in Gurugram.
A review of their criminal backgrounds revealed that Sajid had a prior theft-related case registered against him in Gurugram, while Deepak had been previously implicated in three theft cases in Palwal.
Law enforcement recovered stolen items from the suspects, including an inverter, a battery, two mobile phones, and cash.
Two More Arrested in Robbery Case
Additionally, Gurugram police arrested two individuals on robbery charges, seizing a truck and 14 boxes of metal sheets valued at Rs 18 lakh.
Authorities received a complaint on February 2 at the Sector-7 IMT Manesar police station. The complainant reported that on the night of February 11-12, he had parked his truck carrying 13 tonnes of metal sheets near Satyam Auto Company in Sector-3 IMT Manesar to get water.
At that moment, an individual attempted to drive away with the truck. When the complainant tried to intervene, a group of assailants arrived, took him hostage, forced him into the truck, and later dumped him on the roadside before fleeing with the vehicle and cargo.
Following an investigation, police arrested two suspects, Tarun and Kulwinder Singh, both from Punjab, on Saturday near Bypass Road.
During interrogation, the duo confessed to committing two incidents of theft and snatching in Punjab, along with another robbery in Gurugram.
Further background checks revealed that Tarun had multiple criminal cases registered against him, including two in Jhajjar for offenses such as murder and theft, two in Gurugram for theft and robbery, and two more in Faridabad.
Police successfully recovered the stolen 14 boxes of metal sheets and the truck from their possession.
