Kolkata, Feb 16 || TC – Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat stated on Sunday that the primary goal of the organisation is to establish a structured and unified Hindu society.
Addressing a public gathering in Burdwan, located in West Bengal’s West Burdwan district, Bhagwat elaborated on the significance of Hindu unity and why he consistently highlights this aspect.
"The Hindu society bears the responsibility for the nation. India is not merely a geographical entity whose boundaries shift with time; it possesses a distinct identity. Those who felt they could not coexist with this identity created their own nations. However, those who remained within the country embraced India’s true essence," Bhagwat remarked.
He further emphasised that Hindus have always progressed while embracing the world's diversity.
"Hindus continue to move forward by acknowledging and accepting the world's diversity," he said.
During his speech, the RSS Chief stressed that Hindus inherently believe in "unity in diversity" and view diversity as a fundamental element that enhances unity.
"Every individual exists as a unique person but is not meant to live in isolation. An individual belongs to a family, a family is part of society, and society functions for the nation. While every person has their own identity, this identity should contribute to the collective growth of others. Those who have advanced in life should help others progress as well. This is the true greatness of thought," he explained.
Bhagwat also pointed out that India has seen many wealthy individuals over the years.
"But the nation does not often remember the rich. Instead, people talk about a personality who never sought personal wealth yet left an indelible mark on society—Swami Vivekananda," he said.
The event in Burdwan initially faced obstacles due to a lack of police permission. However, following a ruling by Justice Amrita Sinha’s single-judge bench earlier in the week, the meeting was permitted to take place.
