Jammu, Sep 21 || An encounter has started between security forces and terrorists at the Gurinal village in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Saturday.
"Based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists, a joint search operation was launched by security forces near Danna Dhar forest area, the upper reaches of Gurinal village in the Kishtwar district," police added.
"Contact has been established and few rounds have been fired from both sides. Area cordoned off."
The operation started after a joint team of police and security forces received an input about the presence of terrorists in the area.
There have been a series of encounters between terrorists and security forces across Jammu and Kashmir in the recent past in which many terrorists and their commanders have been eliminated.
Security forces have also suffered casualties.
