Chandigarh, January 31 || TC - Haryana Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Sh Anil Vij, said that every budget presented by the Central Government prioritizes all-round and holistic development. He said that the government is committed to uplifting every section of society and region, with special focus on the development of backward areas.
In a media interaction, Sh Vij also spoke about the Election Commission, asserting that it is an independent body that remains unaffected by any political party. He praised the Commission’s commitment to conducting fair elections, adding that it takes action whenever there is any doubt or evidence, regardless of the political affiliation of the concerned party.
Taking a jibe at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, Sh Vij remarked, “AAP party members shout a lot, and they are trained to do so.” Responding to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s repeated focus on the issue of cleanliness, he pointed out that Kejriwal’s own Member of Parliament had exposed his cleanliness efforts by dumping garbage outside his residence. Sh Vij added, "Delhi's roads, drains, and sewers are filled with dirt and dust, and pollution is on the rise, but Kejriwal is only busy giving speeches."
Regarding Kejriwal’s allegations against an Election Commission officer, Sh Vij stated that action should be taken against Kejriwal for making such claims. He questioned, "If an officer has only two months left in his tenure, does that mean he should stop working?" He reaffirmed that the Election Commission is an independent body, and its officers have the right to continue their work until the very end of their tenure.
On the alleged misuse of resources by the Punjab government, Sh Vij pointed out that the discovery of money in a vehicle with a Punjab registration plate suggests that the Punjab government is misusing its staff and resources to influence voters in the Delhi elections. He said that the Election Commission should take strict action on this and the Commission is also working in this direction.
