February 6, 2025 || TC - With just one month remaining before the Tamil Nadu school board exams, State School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi is scheduled to meet with Chief Education Officers (CEOs) from all districts on February 13 to finalize preparations.
The Tamil Nadu board exams for Class 12 will take place from March 3 to March 25, Class 11 exams will be from March 5 to March 27, and Class 10 exams will be held between March 28 and April 15. Results for Class 12 are expected by April 9, while Class 10 and 11 results are likely to be announced by April 19.
To ensure smooth exam procedures, the Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) has appointed senior officials, including directors and joint directors, to act as monitoring officers across districts.
In addition to exam-related preparations, the Minister has urged businesses, non-profit organizations, and individuals to support government schools through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The state is actively promoting the ‘Namma School’ portal, which allows donors to track how their contributions are spent. As part of this initiative, the Minister distributed scholarships to 797 girls for the upcoming academic year and accepted CSR-funded scholarships for 3,511 students for the 2024-25 academic year.
Poyyamozhi also encouraged more organizations to contribute to improving school infrastructure and enhancing educational programs. This call for CSR involvement follows a conclave held in Trichy in January, where 31 companies pledged a total of ₹141 crore to support government schools. However, some potential donors remain cautious due to concerns about transparency.
To address these concerns, the Namma School Portal offers a virtual pavilion for each school, with live streaming pages linked to YouTube, showcasing school activities and infrastructure projects. Donors will have access to a dashboard that allows them to monitor the progress of projects funded by their donations. For example, if a company contributes to classroom construction, it can track the development of the project through the portal.
In addition to corporate contributions, the school education department is working to engage alumni in school development. The government recently launched ‘Palli Chaalaram’, a page under the Namma School-Namma Ooru Palli initiative, which connects alumni and encourages their involvement in the development of their former schools. This platform also provides information about government schools, their status, former teachers, and alumni networks.
Through these initiatives, the Tamil Nadu government aims to enhance the quality of education in government schools while ensuring greater transparency and fostering community participation.
