Bhopal, Feb 6 || TC - Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed confidence on Thursday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will emerge victorious in Delhi and form the government.
Yadav emphasized that the voters of Delhi have supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s developmental vision.
Leading BJP’s campaign in five constituencies of Delhi ahead of the elections held on Wednesday, the CM referred to exit polls, which predict a clear win for the party.
"Exit polls indicate that Delhi's people have chosen to back BJP and PM Modi’s development agenda," Yadav said in a statement on Thursday.
He also criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress, accusing them of being involved in corruption and the abuse of power during their tenures.
“Years ago, the public rejected Congress, and now they are disillusioned with AAP's corruption. This time, they’ve voted to bring the BJP into power in the national capital,” Yadav added.
Delhi’s 70 assembly seats saw a single-phase election on Wednesday with a voter turnout of 60.42%, according to Election Commission figures.
With the voting done, the fate of 699 candidates and three major political parties now rests in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The results will be announced on February 8.
Exit polls largely forecast a BJP win, signaling a possible end to Arvind Kejriwal's tenure as Chief Minister of Delhi.
In the 2015 elections, the AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, won a massive 67 seats out of 70, while the BJP managed just three seats. Congress did not win a single seat.
AAP repeated its success in the 2020 elections, winning 62 seats, while BJP increased its share to eight. Despite holding power in Delhi from 1998 to 2013, Congress was unable to secure any representation in both the 2015 and 2020 elections.
According to the 2025 exit polls, most analysts predict a significant decline in Congress's fortunes.
